The hazard perception test is taken immediately after the theory test and must be
successfully completed at the same time before you can apply to take the practical
test .
The test involves you watching a series of 14 video clips on a computer screen that
are computer generated driving scenes. During the playback you are required to spot
a hazard as it develops, that is one that would force you as the driver of the vehicle
to alter your speed. Within these clips thirteen contain one developing hazard and
one clip contains two.
You respond by clicking a mouse button. The earlier you see the hazard developing,
the more points you score, see it quickly and you score five points, see it too late
you score nothing. You must score at least 44 out of the 75 points available.
